The Friday Baraza Group was very fortunate to have Brother Mohamed Takim visit us and share his experience of the Dar es salaam based Bethak Group with us. Brother Mohamed is the moderator of the Khoja world famous Bethak Group. Brother Mohamed advised us that, like Bethak, the Baraza Group can grow into a very useful and productive venue for Khojas interactions. He was accompanied by his well known brother Dr. Liyakat Takim who talked about various evolving religious and other issues. Both presentations were stimulating and eye opener. We thanked them and our dear guests of honour for sparing their time with us.

The first Baraza in Toronto
was established by Marhum Mohamedhussein Samji in year 2000 at the Jaffari
Community Centre (Complex). Marhum was a very popular figure in Zanzibar.
The Marhum was a very wise man. He enriched our lives by narrating to us
his memories of Zanzibar. His talks were captivating, entertaining and very
informative.
After the sad passing away of
the Marhum, the Baraza sessions moved to other locations and it is now held
regularly at
the Conference Room at the Crescent Village. There are between
twenty to thirty people who regularly attend the Friday Baraza
Group gatherings.
Some of those who used to attend the Marhum's talks are
still participating in the current Baraza meetings.
It is not uncommon for the Marhum's name to be mentioned at the Baraza sittings.

I am directed by the Toronto Friday Baraza Group to convey our heartfelt gratitude to you for spending some time with us at our Friday session at the Crescent Village Complex.
Realizing the great demand for your audience with various groups, we were impressed by your willingness to visit us for a few hours. Your warm and friendly personality was very much appreciated by all in attendance.
Your vast experience in world wide Khoja affairs and your incisive analysis of the various aspects of Khoja situation was most fascinating. Within the short time that you had with us, you were able to present the plights and opportunities of the diverse sectors of our communities.
You have made us all acutely aware of the varied and extensive operations of the Africa Federation. The projects undertaken by the Africa Federation are significant and most certainly raise the quality of life of the beneficiaries.
As a community, we have gone through several winds of change in our life time, but it is wise to remember that sometimes, in the wind of change, we find our purpose. The World Federation and the Africa Federation have superbly managed the changes and have helped us define our purpose.
